Walking in Wales

The area around Llanwrtyd Wells is rich in heritage and full of natural beauty, it offers a range of walking and hiking routes from the simple scenic paths around Llyn Brianne Reservoir to guided tours of the Iron Forest. So whether you want to go walking for an hour or have a full day hiking there are plenty of options around.

The 15 mile route around Llyn Brianne provides some of the most splendid views available in Wales, the artificial lake created in the 70’s when the River Towy was dammed creates a beautiful scenery to walk around. The path starts at the dam and stretches right up to the northern tip of the lake before coming back down.
During times of low rainfall it is sometimes possible to see the roofs of the houses which were
flooded in order for the dam to go ahead.
